Menopause is not exactly every woman's favorite phase in life. Although they can permanently get away from contraceptives, PMS and childbirth pain, it is also not free from discomforts. - St. John Wort - a natural herb which can be used alone or in conjunction with black cohosh to alleviate low moods of menopausal women.
- Dong quai - is a mild sedative used to treat stress and fatigue. Also called as the "female ginseng," this plant helps in improving blood flow to the female genitals, effectively addressing issues on vaginal dryness and low libido.
- Red clover - is rich in phytoestrogen which helps balance out the hormones in the body and therefore give relief from menopause symptoms.
- Calcium and Vitamin D - since menopausal women are also more prone to bone loss due largely to aging and natural "wear and tear" of the bones, calcium and vitamin D are essential substances that should be incorporated into the supplement. Calcium and Vitamin D help strengthen the bones and prevent bone-related disorders.
While some menopause supplements are effective in easing menopause symptoms, clinical tests and studies will further strengthen these claims. Clinical tests should not involve just the ingredients as separate entities, but also the product as a whole. These tests will prove that the ingredients are of the right amount and potency and that they work synergistically with each other.
